One way of evaluating our service is by looking at the number of contacts a client receives from college coaches after enrolling with College Prospects of America. Ultimately, this leads to more choices for the client and competition among colleges who recruit the student-athlete. This demand for the client usually leads to impressive financial aid packages and scholarship opportunities.
Here are some before-and-after examples of clients who have benefited from our service:
Matthew Cooney - Pennsylvania.
Matt was lightly recruited in high school before enrolling in the CPOA program. Ultimately he was recruited by, and decided to accept an appointment to, the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. He graduated with a degree in economics and played baseball for the Middies for four years, earning four varsity letters. Overcoming injuries after his junior year, he received the team's prestigious "Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War Baseball Award", given annually to the Midshipman who contributes the most to the baseball program over a four-year career. Upon graduation, Matt was commissioned a Second Lieutenant into the United States Marine Corps.
Karen Morrissey - Wisconsin.
Had only a few contacts before meeting with CPOA. Soon more than 100 schools contacted her. Attended Bemidji State, was 2nd Team All-American as a senior and became the school's all-time leading scorer for women's basketball.
Chelle Fuss (Simons) - Ohio.
Chelle was lightly recruited living in a rural area. After enrolling in the CPOA program, she received more than 80 contacts and eventually selected Geneva College, an NAIA-National Christian College in Pennsylvania. She set 14 school records in basketball and was an All-American as a senior. In softball, she was All-Conference four times! After graduating, Chelle remained at Geneva. She became an assistant basketball coach and head softball coach. She is now a recruiting coordinator and athletic administrator at Geneva.
Lewis Chitengwa - Zimbabwe.
Despite defeating Tiger Woods in a Junior golf tournament in Florida as college coaches looked on, Lewis was not being recruited. Within three weeks after enrolling in CPOA's program, coaches began contacting his father in Zimbabwe regarding Lewis' availability. He received a commitment from the University of Virginia where he quickly became the team's #1 player. Lewis played professionally on the Buy.Com (now Nationwide) Tour and the Canadian Tour. In June 2001, he died unexpectedly following a brief illness at the age of 26.
Randy Stearns - Wisconsin.
Had 2-3 schools before and more than 80 after becoming a client. Took 4-5 paid visits and received numerous scholarship offers. Went to Division I Northern Illinois University for baseball. As a freshman, made the Mizuno freshman All-American Team. Eventually drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers and played in their organization.
Fay Murren - Florida.
Late in Fay's senior year of high school, she met with CPOA. She had no serious contacts. Within five weeks, she had over 100 track coaches in touch with her! She chose Northeastern University in Boston, received a full scholarship worth more than $30,000.00 per year then attended graduate school at Harvard University.
Vicki Giffin - Ohio.
As an AAU teammate of future basketball Olympian Katie Smith, Vicki is a classic example of an overlooked student-athlete. She signed with CPOA in March of her senior year. Fewer than 10 colleges had ever sent her a questionnaire! Two months later, she signed a National Letter of Intent with University of North Carolina-Asheville. She was Big South Conference Freshman of the Year and later Conference Player of the Year as a senior. After graduation, she tried out for two professional leagues but opted to become an assistant college coach instead.
Jill Prause - Wisconsin.
Had 0 contacts before CPOA. More than 75 schools contacted her after her enrollment with us. She attended Teikyo Marycrest , where she eventually made 1st Team Academic All-American AND won the NAIA Scholar-Athlete Award for volleyball her senior year. Jill's financial aid package left her paying only $70 per year to attend a college that cost $12,970 annually! The NAIA Scholar Athlete-Award was worth $1000, so she left school with no debt!
Simon Earnshaw - Britain.
Simon attended Georgia College, an NCAA Division II school on a tennis scholarship. After a successful playing career, he stayed in the US and took up coaching at Armstrong Atlantic University, a Division II school in Savannah, GA. He coaches both men's and women's tennis. Simon's men's and women's teams are perennial qualifiers in the NCAA Division II national championships.
Jolinda Lewis - Ohio.
Jolinda became a CPOA client in April of her junior year. She signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball at the University of Cincinnati the following November before she ever started her first varsity game! She broke all of the university's three-point shooting records. She earned her undergraduate Communications degree in just four years, which is very difficult for a student-athlete.
These students from Canada have also share wonderful success stories:
Jennifer Lett - Volleyball - full scholarship to Georgia Southern University -selected school because it had a top notch physiotherapy program. Played four years, graduated and is now working full time in her chosen field in Toronto.
Sarah Wilson - Field Hockey - full ride to Michigan State University- proceeded into a post grad career in medicine
Kirk Van Os - Golf - academic and athletic package to Marian College - small school with a good business program. Graduated and returned to the local golf course that he grew up on and is now the General Manager.
Stephen Rozalowski - Golf - academic and athletic scholarship at Olivet College in Michigan. Graduated and now works in sales in his father's business.
Brett Anderson, Brian Chui and Chris Czarka - Football - have continued their playing careers in the Canadian Football League with the B.C. Lions, Montreal Allouettes and Saskatchewan Roughriders, respectively.
